Elephants are actually incredibly quite for such large animals. I can imagine the sound of their soft footfalls and perhaps the scuff of their dry skin as when they touch each other. The sound of twigs snapping or their teeth grinding as they chew – all against the backdrop of the heat of the African sun and the treetops.
 
Almost a puzzle to desipher, the rich brushstrokes of this painting reveal layers of elephants half-hidden behind ears as they follow in a line toward you.
 
This painting is currently unframed but was created on exhibition canvas with painted edges. It is wired and ready to hang.
